CAPRECON INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION VISITS MINNA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION TO STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP ON YOUTH SKILL DEVELOPMENT

On the 24th of February, 2025, a delegation from CAPRECON International Development Foundation (CIDF) visited the Minna Institute of Technology and Innovation (MITI) to explore avenues for collaboration in advancing youth skill acquisition in Niger State. The visit was part of Caprecon’s broader commitment to empowering vulnerable populations through education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship development.

The delegation was warmly received by the Provost of MITI, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Liman Yerima, FNSE, alongside key members of the institution’s management team. Leading the Caprecon Team, the State Coordinator, Zainab Manko, expressed her appreciation for the warm reception and congratulated the Provost on his appointment. She reaffirmed CAPRECON’s dedication to improving the lives of young people through skills training, rehabilitation, peace building, poverty alleviation, and community development. She emphasized that empowering youth with practical skills is key to addressing juvinile deliquencies, unemployment and driving economic growth.

A significant highlight of the visit was the presence of CAPRECON’s Founder, Mr. Dollin W.O. Holt, who travelled all the way from the United Kingdom to strengthen partnerships and oversee the foundation’s initiatives in Nigeria. Mr. Holt expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing that CAPRECON is committed to promoting youth empowerment through structured skill acquisition programmes. He emphasised the importance of equipping young individuals with practical skills that enable them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society. Adding that the vulnerable populations of the state and country at large is dire need of interventions and Advocacies that will improve livlihood.

In response, the Provost welcomed the collaboration, acknowledging the timeliness of CAPRECON’s intervention. He reaffirmed MITI’s commitment to providing quality vocational and technical education, while informing that, since its establishment and subsequent upgrade in 2015, the institution has been at the forefront of technical training. He further noted that while several training centres exist in Niger State, MITI remains a leading institution accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), offering high-quality instruction delivered by experienced professionals.

The meeting concluded with both institutions assuring their shared commitment to empowering youth through education, skills acquisition, and entrepreneurship.
